Steyermark, Julian A. (Julian Alfred), 1909-1988
Variant namesSteyermark (1909-1988) received his Ph.D. in 1933 from the Henry Shaw School of Botany at Washington University; professor at the Field Museum in Chicago and the Instituto Botanico in Caracas, Venezuela; research associate at the Garden throughout his career and into retirement; botanist, plant explorer, and collector of Missouri and the American tropics. He was a specialist in the Rubiaceae, and wrote floras of Missouri, Guatemala, and Venezuela.
