Walt Whitman Rostow (1916-2003), educator and government official was the Deputy Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs in 1961. From 1961 to 1966, Rostow was Counselor and Chairman of the Policy Planning Council of the Department of State. He also served as the U.S. Representative to the Inter-American Committee for the Alliance for Progress from 1964 to 1966.
