Peterson, Charles J. (Charles Jacobs), 1819-1887
Variant namesCharles J. Peterson was the founder, publisher, and editor of The Peterson Magazine. He and a group of men connected with the newspaper and periodical press in Philadelphia began meeting socially in the 1840s and formed the Press Club which they renamed Our Club in 1862 to broaden membership.
