Brigham Young, Jr. (1836-1903) was born in Kirtland, Ohio to Brigham Young and his wife Mary Ann Angell. After living in Missouri and Illinois, Young crossed the plains to Utah with his family when he was twelve years old. While in his teens, Young helped rescue the Willie and Martin Handcart Companies and was involved in the Utah War. In 1855, Young married Catherine Curtis Spencer. Less than two years later, he also married Jane Carrington. Young served a mission to England from 1862 to 1863. After his return to Utah, Young was ordained an Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, though he was not added to the quorum. In 1864, he returned to England, where he became the mission president. His wife Catherine accompanied him. In 1890, after serving in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and as an assistant to the President, Young again returned to England, where he served as a mission president once more. He died while living in Utah at the age of sixty-six in 1903.
