George Samuel Blanchard is an United States Army officer who was born in 1920; attended American University in 1938-1940 and graduated from the United States (U.S.) Military Academy in 1944. He received his M.S. from Syracuse University in 1948. He advanced through the grades to Lieutenant General and became the commanding general of 82nd Airborne Division; commander-in-chief, U.S. Army, Europe and Seventh Army and commander of Central Army Group, NAT0.
