Willard F. Mallalieu was born in 1828 of Puritan and Huguenot ancestry. He became a pastor, presiding elder and bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He wrote several articles and books on Christianity and perfection, and made travel journals of his trips to Europe, the Orient and southern U.S. He died in 1911.
