Biographical Sketch: Cruikshank and Baillie were the best known successors to William Hunter the anatomist. Cruikshank was Hunter's partner and Baillie his nephew and student; he also inherited Hunter's anatomy theatre and museum. After Hunter's death in 1783, Baillie and Cruikshank became partners, however Baillie stopped lecturing in 1799 to focus on his medical practice.
