Skarland, Ivar

Ivar Skarland (1899-1965), anthropologist, was born in Norway, worked in British Columbia in 1927, came to Alaska and graduated from the University of Alaska in 1935. After earning graduate degrees at Harvard he became head of the Anthropology department at the University of Alaska Fairbanks from 1946 until his death in 1964.
