Clapper, Olive Ewing, 1896-1968
Variant namesOlive Ewing Clapper began working as a radio commentator and journalist for the Mutual Network in 1944 after her husband, war correspondent Raymond Clapper, died in a plane crash in the Marshall Islands. From 1952-1962 she was the Washington, D.C. director of CARE (Cooperative for American Relief Everywhere) and traveled extensively to promote the organization's activities.

Olive Ewing was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 4, 1896. She married Raymond Clapper, and they remained married up until his death in 1944. She died on November 11, 1968.
