T.W. Crawford was a delegate to the Brisbane District Council of the Australian Labour Federation 1889-92. In 1895, in association with the Muntz family he obtained Brie-Brie, a 400 acre estate at Mosman which he developed into one of the most succesful cane-growing operations in Queensland. On the formation of the Mossman Central Mill Co. Ltd., he was elected to the directorate and later became chairman. He served as President of the Queensland Sugar Producers Association and was elected a Nationalist senator holding the seat for 30 years. He was honorary Minister in the Bruce-Page government and acting minister for trade and customs.
