Leila J. Rupp was an associate professor of history and Verta Taylor an associate professor of sociology at Ohio State University. In 1987 they published Survival in the Doldrums: The American Women's Rights Movement, 1945 to the 1960s, a study of feminism in the 1950s, in particular the National Woman's Party and its efforts to pass the Equal Rights Amendment.
