Lieutenant Colonel George Johnston, 1764-1823, soldier and pioneer. Commender of N.S.W. Corps from 1804. On 1808 Jan 26 led the troops that arrested Governor Bligh, assuming title of Lieutenant Governor and remaining head of the administration until relieved by Lieut.-Colonel Foveaux in 1808 July.
