Biographical notes:

Both originally composed for keyboard (harpsichord or virginal). The Pavane composed ca. 1612 and published as no. 6 in the collection Parthenia. The Gigg published as A Giff F. Tr[egian], no. 180 in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book compiled probably after 1621. For Leslie Russell's transcription of the Earle of Salisbury's Pavane for string orchestra see FLC callno.: 2370s.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
