Ingleside Home, incorporated in Buffalo in 1869 as "The Ingleside Home for Reclaiming the Erring," originally served as a home or placement agency for "wayward women." After 1923, under the name of the Ingleside Home, it directed its services entirely to unwed mothers and their babies, providing counseling, school instruction and obstetrical services (labor and delivery facilities were discontinued in 1962). From 1930 on, Ingleside was located at 70 Harvard Place.
